Introduction
The name Red Hornet was inspired by a collective formed in the early 1970s in the Charlotte, NC area to protest pro-war foreign policy. Attempts were made to protest at events featuring Richard Nixon and Billy Graham. The FBI infiltrated Red Hornet (Cointelpro). Veterans Against the War (Vietnam) and allies (operating around Davidson College) founded Red Hornet. Charlotte has a mythology of having been the Hornet's Nest and issuing a Declaration prior to the American Revolution, so that allusion inspired the collective. Constitutionally based law suits resulted from official and police actions to pre-empt and curtail civil rights of Red Hornet protestors, and decisions were rendered
